Abstract

Peat water is acidic and intensely colored, so treatment is required before use. This preliminary experiment evaluated a simple PVC filter containing silica sand, gravel, palm fiber, and activated carbon. Raw-water pH was 3.15. Reported values after sequential filtration were 4.09, 4.28, and 4.83, although another passage reports 4.02 for the first filtration. Water temperature changed from 29 °C to 28 °C and color was reported as 25 Pt-Co. The filter increased pH but did not reach the 6.5–8.5 benchmark used in the thesis. Because the sampling unit, first pH value, sensory procedure, and several apparatus specifications remain inconsistent, the findings are preliminary and do not establish potability.
