Publication Ethics

JLN is committed to responsible scholarly publishing and uses the core principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as a reference. This statement does not claim organizational membership in COPE.

Responsibilities of authors

• Submit original work and disclose all sources, funding, competing interests, and material contributions.
• Do not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, plagiarize, or submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.
• List as authors only those who made a substantial contribution and approved the submitted version.
• Obtain required research ethics approval, informed consent, and permissions for copyrighted or identifiable material.
• Correct significant errors promptly and cooperate with editorial inquiries.

Responsibilities of reviewers

• Provide objective, evidence-based, respectful, and timely reviews.
• Protect manuscript confidentiality and do not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
• Decline review when expertise is insufficient or a conflict of interest may affect impartiality.

Responsibilities of editors

• Make decisions on scholarly merit, scope, and ethical compliance without discrimination.
• Protect confidentiality, manage conflicts of interest, and maintain reviewer independence.
• Investigate credible concerns fairly and issue corrections, retractions, or other notices when warranted.

Suspected misconduct will be assessed using available evidence and appropriate COPE guidance. The journal may contact authors, institutions, or other journals when necessary while respecting due process and confidentiality.
